Shalom

It’s Sunday night and I’m sitting on my bed overwhelmed. For starters, I hate clutter and moving boxes, shoes, clothes all of it is scattered about every inch of my bedroom floor. My kids had colds this week, my husband has had a crazy work schedule and we are having to move out of our home over 2 weeks sooner than expected. Oh, and my kids have watched way too much TV and played way too many video games. I’m tired and anxious, but I reach out my hand and accept the gift of peace that my Precious, Heavenly Father offers us. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27)

God gave me a beautiful picture on Saturday. I saw God releasing several angels to His people. They were carrying a scroll in their hand and were handing them out to the people of God. When they opened it, the word, “Shalom” was written across in big letters. God does not desire to give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). When God gives us His, “Shalom” we operate in power and love and a sound mind, because suddenly the noise of the world grows strangely dim and a peace that surpasses all understanding is given as a gift of the Holy Spirit. 

In this season, I believe I am not the only one that has felt an extra dose of anxiety. I feel many in the family of God are sensing an uneasiness in these last few weeks. How beautiful that God knows every detail of every heart and offers us His beautiful peace as a comfort for His daughters and sons, knowing the perfect time. As I think upon the angels handing out the scolls, our part is simple, hold onto the gift handed to us and let it permeate our souls as we walk in a world of uneasiness and tension. To walk in a place where peace surpasses all understanding. When our hearts are at peace, then our minds are more geared for the eternal mindset. When our hearts are at peace, we are a brighter light to shine before all men. When our hearts are at peace, no trial, temptation, fear, sickness, distraction can shake the ground underneath our feet. God’s peace is a reminder that we are a city on a hill that cannot be hidden and nothing can take away. His peace is not only a fruit of His spirit, but a gift that He desires us to walk in that when we do, our faith is lifted. I believe He is handing out His peace as a gift because He is desiring us to walk in His freedom.

Shalom my friends and may peace be with you.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
